I remember being about 28, and having just started working on the trading floor. While I was running some stock screens and waiting for the system to cough up its answer, I started teasing my neighbor. His father was a very senior executive with the firm but had recently retired. The whole family was therefore, loaded. So while we were talking about his favorite municipal bond picks, he casually mentioned a new 'hottie' he had started seeing, indicating that she was very very young. So I joked with him saying:

'Wow Andy you are her sugar daddy, ain't ya?'
'No man don't say that, don't like it'.
'Oh come on bud, just admit you are into sugar'
'Hey dude, I told you, don't say that'
'All right man, Geez Louise'

I thought his instant and quite negative reaction was a bit strange but I let it slide, without thinking much about it. I just figured he was having a bad day. So I decided to find someone else to pick on.

A few months later, however, I was talking to my old boss who knew Andy's father and he said:

'You know, his father Anthony, had a kept woman while married. Mister senior executive himself....go figure'

And then his reaction made perfect sense! He probably suspected his father had a sugar baby. Or worse yet, maybe he even caught them in the act. That's why he reacted to my jokes in such a manner.

Note to self: If I am still in the sugar life when my children are in their teens or older, only have one SB. No multiples, because this just increases the chance of being seen by someone. Furthermore, meet her at the other side of town. In addition, make her closer to my age so it is not totally obvious i.e. no 20 years olds!
